so here we are in 2022.  Covid is still taking it's toll on the world.  Many people have become vaccinated to protect themselves from the virus but there are still those that reject the vaccine for various reasons.  A new strain came upon   the world named the Omicron.  It has followed in the footsteps of the Delta variant.  It is said that Omicron isn't as bad but it has affected many of the already vaccinated.  We are still wearing masks and social distancing even though the rules are a little more relaxed.  Some places have made the vaccine mandatory so many people walked away from their jobs rather than get the vaccine.  It is very hard to understand how someone could just walk away from their jobs.  How do they support themselves without a job. I believe that this virus has caused a lot of mental stress on people.  I am hoping that there is a turn around in this plague that the world has suffered through in the last o...

Covid19 is getting bad in the  US. As of today 250000 have died and over a million have been infected.  It is spreading rapidly all over the country.  As we are nearing into the Holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas it is doubtful whether they will be celebrated in the same way if at all.  AT this point I haven't been to church since March.  The churches were closed by the government at that time but have since reopened but with restrictions on how many people can attend and of course people have to be separated.  A new term "Social Distancing".  I have just found out that a couple of relatives have been positive for Covid.  They are not people I generally am in contact with so I wouldn't be in danger of contracting it from them.  Most people are wearing masks to prevent the spread of the virus but there are those that don't believe in it and will not wear them.  Who knows what actually works.   So another issue is th...

My neighborhood

My sister and I were thinking about our old neighborhood when we were growing up and we started to remember all the kids that we grew up with on  our street.  It was a great family neighborhood and the kids on the street all got along very well.   We would play games in the streets like King May I and kick the can  and of course Hopscotch.   I want to name all the kids I remember that lived on my street so that I will always remember who we grew up with.  I want to list their names but I decided I would better just put first names and last initials.   I'll start with Mary Jane P and her brother Frank.  Then there was Evelyn and Red M.  Next to them was Tula and Evangelo M.   Next to them was an Auto Body Shop owned by Buddy W.  Then came Skipper,  Roland,  Beryl, and Lillian A.   Roland and his wife Diane lived there for many years later and raised two children,  Darnell and Curtis.  who...

Life in the time of Covid19

This year 2020 we have been victims of a plague caused by a novel corona virus that has been named COVID19. As of today over 50,000 people in the United States alone have perished.  It is a pandemic and has affected over 180 countries in the world.  It has closed businesses worldwide,  affected the airlines, the cruise ship industry, retail shops, small businesses and much more as well as caused a lot of suffering due to illness and death.  Schools have been closed and students have been taking classes virtually .  ie: via computer learning. We have had to do what is called social distancing which means we are not supposed to congregate in groups of more than 5 people.  Events like Easter have  gone almost uncelebrated and masses have not been celebrated in the church but  on line as have most other activities.  We have been told to wear masks to cover our mouths and noses and there are shields in front of the cashiers ...

So another Christmas has come and gone.  It was a great day with family at my daughter's home.  She made a delicious tenderloin of beef with all the fixings.  And we exchanged  gifts.  Now on to the end of 2019 and soon the beginning of 2020.    A new decade.  What will it bring.  I am      certainly looking forward to some positive changes.  I hope to improve my photography .  This year I did  sell some of my photos  for the first time.  That was exciting and rewarding.  I am not sure if I will  do it again but who knows.   Can't imagine what 2020 will bring.  In some way it is just another day in paradise but I like to think of it as a new beginning.  A chance to do  some exciting new things and new adventures.   What they will be will be determined.  We all hope for something new when the New Year comes around.   I ...

Sailing on Lake Clare farmhouses along the highways Just came back from a visit to my cousin Candida Simmons in Bay City Michigan.  Visited the Taquemenon Falls.  It was about a five hour drive but well worth the  trip. They are a lot smaller than Niagra but still very pretty.  On the return we stopped at a small town called St. Ignace which is an area where Fr. James Marquette of the Jesuit order taught an Indian tribe, The Chippewa and brought Catholicism to them and founded the St. Ignace Mission.  And was buried there after his death.  It was quite an interesting area.  We visited the St. Ignace Mission building which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.   Another stop was Port Huron which is just on the other side of the Canadian Border.  There was a beautiful lighthouse there .   We could see the Canadian border on the other side  of the Lake.  More to come.....

Life moves on .  The ospreys in Jamestown have given birth to two new osprey.  While there is a third in the nest I believe that one of them is a stray bird that has joined the  family as it appears it is also an adult bird.  The mother appears to have been teaching them to fly so they would be ready to make their way out into the world.  Isn't this something we all to do eventually with our own children.  We have to give them the tools to leave the "nest" so they can"fly" on their own out into the world.  Unlike the osprey we are hesitant to let our children leave the nest.  We are afraid for them.  We sometimes feel the tools that we have given them are not enough to show them the way.  We are afraid to let them take the chance to spread their wings.  The osprey knows that their offspring have to leave  the nest and be on their way into their future to survive on not on their own.  It's a huge world out there but some...
